DISPUTE OVER PLAN INFORMATION BRINGS LABOR TROUBLE AT ABC.

NEW YORK -- A proposed change in health benefits has erupted into a nasty battle between ABC Inc. and a union. The National Assn. of Broadcast Employees & Technicians charges that ABC is trying to get NABET-represented employees to choose from a new selection of health plans but will not provide union negotiators with the plans' negotiated network rates as compared with reasonable and customary rates.

A union spokesman said this information is needed as the basis to determine what an employee's out-of-pocket expenses will be to see a physician outside of a chosen plan. The union on Nov. 2 called a 24-hour unfair labor practices strike against the television network for the alleged failure to provide the information. The network locked out the union employees...
