RUBIN JOINS CITIGROUP EXECUTIVE TRIAD.

NEW YORK-Citigroup, the financial services monolith formed by the merger of Citibank and Travelers Group, has named former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Robert Rubin as chairman of the executive committee of the board. Although he will not be considered a third chief executive officer alongside chairmen and co-CEOs Sanford Weill and John Reed, Mr.
Rubin will share in the ``guidance and direction of the company,'' Mr. Reed said during a press conference held last week. He will have no day-to-day responsibilities, Mr. Reed emphasized, but he will work closely with Messrs. Reed and Weill. Mr. Rubin describes his involvement as strategic, managerial and operational.
