A MAN'S-OR WOMAN'S-HOME is indeed his or her castle, at least as far as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is concerned when it comes to telecommuting white-collar workers. "OSHA will not hold employers liable for work activity in employees' home offices," Charles Jeffress, the assistant secretary of labor in charge of OSHA, told a subcommittee of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce last Friday morning.

"The bottom line is, as it always has been, that OSHA will respect the privacy of the home and expects that employers will as well," he said.
