FMLA CHANGE OPPOSED The Society for Human Resource Management and two other organizations are suing the U.S. Department of Labor to stop implementation of a new federal regulation that would allow states to use unemployment insurance funds to pay employees taking birth and adoption leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act.
After the regulation was published in the Federal Register last month, SHRM, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Washington-based non-profit employer organization LPA Inc. filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Two employers also joined the suit as plaintiffs.
