Legal battle erupts over 'blackmail' by ex-Near North employees ; Near North taking complaint to rival Aon.(Brief Article)

CHICAGO-A legal battle between two Chicago-based brokerage giants continues to heat up. On Friday, Near North Insurance Brokerage Inc. withdrew its emergency motion, and a discovery schedule was set in the brokerage's noncompete suit against three former executives who joined rival Aon Corp.

last year. Near North had filed an emergency motion last Tuesday in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging that it was subject to ``a campaign of extortion'' by three former senior level employees. The three are now working at Aon despite noncompete agreements, according to Near North court filings. Near North alleges that the three ex-employees, Tim Gallagher, Matthew Walsh and Dana Berry, tried unsuccessfully to gain control and part ownership of the brokerage as well...
