Byline: Dave Lenckus I cannot imagine any stranger twists in the effort to formally recognize the heroism of a very special group of individuals we wrote about a year ago. Last January, we questioned why Congress and the president had not honored the courageous 40 airline passengers and crew members who were killed while preventing their hijacked flight from crashing into either the U.S.
Capitol or White House on the most recent day that will live in infamy-Sept. 11, 2001. More than 100,000 Americans have endorsed an online petition urging our nation's lawmakers-many of whom likely owe their own and their staffs' lives to those aboard United Airlines Flight 93-to honor those brave men and women with Congressional Gold Medals.
