Hurricane team predicts above-average season The Atlantic and Gulf Coasts should experience above-average hurricane activity this year, according to Colorado State University's Tropical Meteorology Project. The hurricane prediction team, which is headed by renowned hurricane researcher William Gray, issued a prediction Friday calling for eight hurricanes during this year's hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to Nov.
