American Benefits Council plan takes aim at rising health costs; 2004 Annual Employee Healthcare Conference.

Byline: GLORIA GONZALEZ NEW YORK-The president of the American Benefits Council presented a 10-year plan to reduce health care costs, provide more Americans with quality health care and ensure that more than 90% of nonelderly Americans have health insurance. James Klein, president of the Washington-based organization, described the plan to about 250 attendees of the 2004 Annual Employee Healthcare Conference, held last month in New York.

The plan focuses on achieving its three goals by the year 2014. The first goal is to return annual health care cost increases to a singe-digit rate that tracks overall increases in the gross domestic product, he said.
