Sears Tower attracts large tenants to roost.

The recent flood of leases signed by Sears Tower hasn't dried up yet. In the next several weeks, leases for two more big tenants, totaling 165,000 square feet, are expected to be signed. The tenants are affiliates of New Jersey-based Chubb Corp. and California-based Fireman's Fund Insurance Co.
The building's leasing agent is John Buck Co. Once those deals go through, Sears Tower will have secured leases totaling 650,000 square feet over the past several months--about the size of a 30-story office building. Last year, the Tower signed only a handful of small deals. Some of the new leases will eat up about half the 650,000-square-foot block of space left in the Tower when Sears, Roebuck and Co.'s Merchandise Group departed for northwest suburban Hoffman Estates in...
