Labor Dept. will crack down on discrimination Seeking to crack down on job discrimination, the U.S. Department of Labor will soon be testing local employers' hiring practices, especially their willingness to consider eligible Hispanic applicants. Starting this spring, pairs of equally qualified testers - one white and one Hispanic - will apply for the same jobs at as many as 60 Chicago-area companies.
