SEARS TOWER CO-GEN.

Crain's Chicago Business, May, 1999

Building owner drops legal battle The owner of the Sears Tower dropped its two-year legal battle to build an on-site power-generation facility. Faced with continued opposition from Commonwealth Edison Co., Toronto-based TrizecHahn withdrew its appeal of an Illinois Commerce Commission ruling that blocked the building's plans to supply tenants with power from a co- generation plant that was to be built by a unit of Peoria-based Cilcorp Inc.

TrizecHahn reasons that it will be able to choose an energy supplier other than ComEd beginning Oct. 1, when the power- generation market in Illinois partially opens to competition, says its attorney, Patrick Giordano.
