Reports of the death of U.S.-China relations have been greatly exaggerated. There's no doubt, however, that the relationship is at a low point. NATO war planes mistakenly bombing the Chinese embassy in Belgrade; disturbing televised images of demonstrators outside U.S. businesses like Oak Brook's own McDonald's Corp., and the release of the Cox Report on Capitol Hill charging China with nuclear espionage -- these factors, as well as the wrangling over letting China into the World Trade Organization, have sent a chill up the spines of even the most enthusiastic China boosters.
