NEW HOME SALES SET RECORD IN 2ND QTR. Sales of new homes in the Chicago area hit a record-setting pace through the first half of 1999, according to Schaumburg-based housing consultant Tracy Cross & Associates Inc. Sales on new homes increased to 6,684 units, eclipsing by 4.4% the previous record of 6,400, set in 1999's first quarter.
Second-quarter sales were up 9.8% compared with the same period last year.
