But American Bar Assn. guidelines bar law firms from merging with accounting concerns. Now, a small Chicago law firm is experimenting with cross-pollination by affiliating with one of the Big Five accounting giants.
Horwood Marcus & Berk, a 25-lawyer firm specializing in tax law, is forming an alliance with New York-based KPMG LLP -- a move that will allow the two firms to tap into each other's client bases and resources.
