WASTE ALUMS AIMING TO CLEAN UP: BUT OLD FIRM'S ACCOUNTING FIASCO MAY HAUNT THEM.

The accounting debacle that rocked Waste Management Inc. may have sent the Oak Brook company into the arms of a Houston acquirer last year, but prominent former executives have resurfaced in new ventures here that borrow from the trash giant's old playbook. Joseph M. Holsten, former chief operating officer at Waste, is running a fledgling auto-recycling company based in Chicago and backed by Waste Management founder Dean L.
Buntrock, former executive Donald Flynn and AutoNation Inc., the automobile retailer launched by Waste co-founder and Miami Dolphins owner H. Wayne Huizenga. Meanwhile, Herbert A. Getz, Waste's former general counsel, and Michael P. Rogan, another Waste alumnus, are launching a Warrenville-based company to acquire commercial landscaping...
