Exchange mulls options for electronic-trading IPO, but will keep pits privateThe Chicago Board of Trade appears poised to curtail a restructuring plan that would have converted the exchange into a for-profit company with outside investors. Instead, any such push would be focused, at least initially, on the Board of Trade's electronic-trading operations and downplay -- for now -- changes in the membership-owned structure for traditional pit-based trading.
Directors are scheduled to meet offsite for an informal "retreat" next Monday -- Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a Chicago Board of Trade (CBT) holiday -- and then convene the next day for their regular monthly meeting.
