Real Estate Review: Plan for Meijer cuts into Prime land.(Brief Article)

A proposal to lure a Meijer store to northwest suburban Rolling Meadows could come at the expense of Chicago-based Prime Group Realty Trust. Bradford Real Estate Services Corp. of Chicago is proposing a 180,000-square-foot Meijer discount/grocery store on 22.5 acres near Golf and Algonquin roads.
But the site lacks access to Algonquin Road, so Rolling Meadows has proposed building an access road through the parking lot of Prime Group's neighboring Continental Towers office campus to connect the store to the busy thoroughfare. The city, which has already granted preliminary approval to the plan, is working with the developer and Prime to negotiate a price for the land, says Rolling Meadows' interim city manager, Philip A.
