BURNETT TO CUT JOBS IN PREPARATION FOR IPO Leo Burnett Co. is expected to announce a significant reduction in its Chicago workforce, possibly as early as the beginning of February, sources say. Burnett's parent, Chicago's BCom3 Group Inc., is cutting expenses in preparation for a planned initial public offering later this year.
Burnett could eliminate as many as 200 of its 2,500 jobs in Chicago in a cutback affecting all functions, says one source. The advertising agency employs about 9,700 people worldwide. A Burnett spokesman declined to confirm the planned layoffs, saying ``nothing has been communicated to our employees. So, until that time, it is a rumor.''
