John Danowski revels in the freedom mobile technology allows. His Compaq iPAQ handheld, for example, organizes his business and family life, allowing him to access e-mail, make and be reminded of appointments and perform lightweight computing tasks including word processing, spreadsheet functions and PowerPoint presentations.

Mr. Danowski, director of technology for Roselle-based marketing and trade show firm Exhibitgroup/ Giltspur, also carries a cell phone and laptop computer.
