Charlie Trotter adds expansion to menu.(News)

LEE MURPHY In the weeks after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks-which occurred as he was sitting on a plane waiting to depart New York's LaGuardia Airport-Chicago chef Charlie Trotter hinted that he was facing career burnout and badly needed some time away from the stove. Maybe he would leave his namesake Lincoln Park restaurant entirely, he suggested.

So much for downtime. With his business booming in recent months despite the recession, Mr. Trotter is, as celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse would put it, ``kicking it up a notch.''
