Stations seek 10 p.m. news knockout; WMAQ, WLS vie for big TV ad purse.

Fresh off its November ratings coup, WMAQ-TV/Channel 5 is trailing in its attempt to again unseat the market's dominant news station, WLS-TV/Channel 7, during the current ``sweeps'' period, when Nielsen Media Research measures viewing audiences and networks try to outdo each other with frequently outrageous, attention-grabbing features.
