Hydrogen fuel cell focus buoys Argonne.(News)(Argonne National Laboratory)

Byline: PAUL MERRION WASHINGTON-The Bush administration's big push for hydrogen fuel cell research is energizing Argonne National Laboratory. Argonne is already a leader in hydrogen fuel cell research, with about 30 people and almost $10 million of its budget devoted to the technology. The vision of pollution-free vehicles and independence from foreign oil rated prominent mention in the president's State of the Union speech and in a five-year, $1.2-billion budget request, an increase of $720 million.
