Ten years ago, when CEO Anthony Spier arrived, it was a manufacturer of video terminals for the amusement arcade market, but under Mr. Spier, it has emerged as a leading supplier of video displays and other components to the U.S.
gambling market. Its share of sales directed at gambling reached 70% last year, compared with 5% a decade ago, and Mr. Spier expects the figure to top 80% this year. "Gaming is profitable at all levels, from equipment manufacturing to casinos. That's the mark of a healthy industry,'' he said after the recent annual meeting. "It's been a good marketplace for us.''
