CEO Harry Stonecipher is expected to apply some tough love to Boeing's own operations. "We've missed a few steps along the way,'' he said last week in a conference call to announce that Philip M.
Condit had resigned as chairman and CEO of the Chicago-based aerospace company. Mr. Stonecipher vowed in the future to "pay unrelenting attention to the details'' of the company's performance. That will mean tough scrutiny for Boeing units that consume cash without returning their fair share to the bottom line.
