IRI STAFF CUTBACK HITS HARD LOCALLY Information Resources Inc. (IRI) plans to jettison 281 workers in the Chicago area, nearly 30% of its 1,000 local jobs. The company will outsource some of the jobs to India, a spokeswoman says. "We're taking these measures to create efficiencies, improve our financial performance and preserve the remaining jobs at the company,'' she adds.
IRI, which employs 2,900 worldwide, is trimming a handful of jobs outside the Chicago area, the spokeswoman says. The market research firm, which tracks sales data at supermarkets and other mass merchants, was acquired by California-based Symphony Technology Group LLC last year for about $100 million after posting losses the previous four years.
