McPIER INVESTIGATORS PROBE FOOD CONTRACT Federal investigators have widened their probe into alleged misconduct at the agency that operates McCormick Place and Navy Pier. People close to the matter said the U.S. attorney's office in Chicago has issued subpoenas to the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority-known as McPier-and companies involved in a 2001 competition for a long-term pact to provide up to $100 million in food services at McCormick Place.
Chicago-based Levy Restaurants won the deal, beating out a joint venture of Chicago's Hyatt Hotels Corp. and Philadelphia-based Aramark Sports & Entertainment Group.
