Playboy misses porn market shift.(Playboy Enterprises Inc.,)

Byline: JEREMY MULLMAN Playboy Enterprises Inc.'s shares fell 47% during the past six months as its television and video unit missed a major technology-driven shift in the porn market. The Chicago-based adult entertainment conglomerate, best known for its signature magazine, bet heavily that TV and video could drive its growth going forward.

But that growth stalled in the second quarter, when the TV and video group's earnings flattened. "Management has repeatedly said that that's where the future growth is going to come from,'' says David Liebowitz, an analyst at Burnham Securities Inc. in New York.
