Byline: SANDRA JONES Judith A. Sprieser landed her first board seat in 1994 at USG Corp. when she was working her way up the executive ranks of Chicago's Sara Lee Corp. Now, she's on four outside boards. "I'm very busy, but it seems to work,'' says Ms. Sprieser, 51 and CEO of Transora Inc., a Chicago-based consumer products data exchange.
Snagging the first board seat is difficult. After that, the phone rings. Ms. Sprieser gets a call a month offering a board seat. "She gets hit on every high-profile search,'' says Hinsdale-based executive recruiter Peter Crist. "But she's already taken.''
