Shrinking budgets ahead; CIOs put brakes on tech spending, take stock of what's next.(Focus: Technology)(Chief Information Officers)

Byline: MARK HENRICKS American corporate spending on information technology is expected to increase 7% in 2005, following a 5% rise in 2004. Nationally, spending will mostly be for software upgrades, disaster recovery, regulatory compliance and security systems, according to Forrester Research Inc., a technology research firm based in Cambridge, Mass.
