Byline: H. LEE MURPHY Concern over identity theft is a boon for Vasco Data Security International Inc. The company, which sells computer-access authentication software and hardware, almost doubled its sales in the first three months of the year. But Oakbrook Terrace-based Vasco says it has hardly tapped its potential customer base.

The company, in business for a decade, hasn't convinced much of Corporate America that extra security, on top of existing password systems, is necessary. Some 370 banks in 80 countries now use Vasco's handheld Digipass system, but that's a fraction of the 50,000 banks worldwide that are potential customers for authentication software.
