Byline: Bob Tita As train master at Burlington Northern Santa Fe's (BNSF) freight yard, Dave McCalley has one overarching goal: Whatever comes in, get it out-as soon as possible. With four 8,000-foot-long trains a day rolling in to the yard and four equally long trains leaving, any delay can quickly cause a major traffic jam.

"The challenge is to keep traffic moving and just make sure everything flows in and flows out,'' says Mr. McCalley.
