Shirley Tark acquired Main State Bank at 1965 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago. The husband of his only daughter Iris, Sidney Taylor, joined the institution after World War II.

Together with a partner, Irwin Cole, an auto dealer and real estate investor, Sid Taylor purchased the bank from his father-in-law in 1969, then doubled its size in 1978 with the acquisition of Drover's National Bank on the Southwest Side. Iris and Sidney's sons, Bruce and Jeff, joined the bank in 1978. In the 1980s, the company acquired Bank of Yorktown, Wheeling Trust & Savings and Skokie Trust & Savings...
