With a sub-3.0 grade point average in high school, Christopher Hughes couldn't get into the University of Illinois, got rejected by DePaul University and had to talk his way into Marquette University in Milwaukee. But his underachieving side vanished as soon as he stepped out of the classroom and into the office.

One of the youngest partners in Rreef history, he was promoted in January to oversee all the firm's debt, mezzanine financing, preferred equity, derivatives and hedge fund activities.
