Byline: SARAH A. KLEIN Many of Chicago's masterworks were shunned when they first arrived but have since become loved. The one exception appears to be Jean Dubuffet's "Monument with Standing Beast'' in the James R. Thompson Center Plaza. Children love it, but adults struggle with it. "It's a tough piece,'' says Jonathan Fineberg, an art history professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Indeed, Dubuffet's deliberately primitive style eludes most viewers. So what about the rest?
