Soon after, she and her family fled Hungary in the middle of the night. As chair of the Committee on Mass Transit, the Evanston Democrat leads the Illinois House of Representatives in responding to the $226-million budget crisis facing the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), which oversees the finances of the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Metra commuter rail line and Pace suburban bus system.
