Andrew to be acquired in $2.6-bil. deal.(Briefs)(CommScope Inc. acquired Andrew Corp.)(Brief article)
Crain's Chicago Business, July, 2007
To expand its network business from wired to wireless, CommScope announced plans to buy Westchester-based cable maker Andrew in a $2.6-billion mostly cash deal-a significant increase from the $1.7-billion CommScope offer Andrew rejected last year. North Carolina-based CommScope expects to achieve pretax cost savings of $90 million to $100 million through various efficiencies, which will include layoffs, COO Kevin Garrett said.
But he added that it's too early to say how many or from which offices the cuts would be made. The transaction, already approved by both companies' boards, is expected to close by the end of the year.
