Moto vs. Apple Can Moto's new Q outrun the iPhone?(News)(Brief article)

Byline: Monee Fields-White That's the hope of Motorola Inc. executives touting the processing speed of the new smartphone, the Q 9h, due out in late summer. The Q 9h is the first update of the handheld Moto introduced last year to disappointing sales (Crain's, Oct. 23). Thanks to the network it runs on, the new Q can download data at 3.6 megabits per second-nearly double the reported download speeds of the iPhone, which runs on a much slower cellular network.
The Q 9h and the new Moto Rizr Z8 cell phone "are literally the fastest phones in the world,'' says Brian Stech, vice-president of mobile devices at Motorola. But will anybody wait in line on Michigan Avenue to buy the new Q? "The cool factor with the iPhone will win over,'' at least in 2007, says...
