Company's move from star system to broader management pays off Superstar recruiter Gerry Roche may be getting ready to hand over the reins at the world's No. 2 head-hunting firm, but his company is not suffering in the process. Indeed, a year after Heidrick & Struggles anointed 48-year-old John Thompson to the position of vice chairman in a move that was widely seen as a transition to new leadership, the firm has leaped ahead of arch rival Spencer Stuart, and is fast catching up to industry leader Korn/Ferry on the domestic front.
