CABLE PLAYERS RUSH TO INVEST IN ALLEY ALLIES: SEEK CONTENT AS NET, TV CONVERGE.

Comcast Corp. may not have any cable TV operations in New York City, but executives of the Philadelphia-based giant have been spending a lot of time here lately. They've been shopping. Silicon Alley has become a regular stop in Comcast's quest to find promising Internet start-ups in which to invest.
"We probably have investment people in New York two to three times a week," says Sam Schwartz, managing director of the company's Interactive Capital Group, which is overseen by Comcast Vice Chairman Julian Brodsky. Lured by content Comcast isn't the only cable operator plugging into Silicon Alley. As the convergence between television and the Internet begins to materialize, cable companies are moving rapidly to connect with the city's new media...
