Silicon firms set offerings Three Silicon Alley companies are set to float secondary offerings this week. The three companies are About.com Inc., which stands to raise about $170 million, iVillage Inc., which is looking for some $90 million, and Media Metrix Inc., which could raise as much as $140 million.
Lehman builds financial group Lehman Brothers has hired a team of insurance industry analysts, led by Eric Berg, away from CIBC World Markets. The hires are part of a build-up in Lehman's investment banking group serving financial institutions. In July, Lehman hired veteran investment banker David Sherwood from Merrill Lynch & Co. to serve as co-head of the group.
