As a true optimist -- a man who finds his three-hour daily commute useful downtime -- Ameet Patel sees opportunities where others see only obstacles. At his current job, though, Mr. Patel's optimism faces its severest test. At Chase, his task is nothing less than to make the banking behemoth an on-line leader in financial services for both consumers and small business users -- despite the institution's late arrival to the on-line banking game.
