Financier Lewis Eisenberg wrote checks for $75,000 to the Republican National Committee last year from his Upper East Side home in ZIP code 10021. Neighbors Henry Kravis and Russell Carson also wrote checks to GOP committees-for $50,000 each-and nearby hotel executive Jonathan Tisch gave $25,000 to the Democratic party.

They all live in the ZIP code that delivers more political cash than almost any other in the country, a total of $5.9 million in the 2000 federal races so far.
