Hillary Clinton and trust issue.(Brief Article)

Last week, as quietly as possible, the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics ended its investigation of whether the Pataki administration had inflated employment statistics to make it appear that the state's economy was doing better than it actually was. The figures, said the BLS, were in fact correct.

What is important about this is that the charge had originated with Democrats linked to Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign. It was leveled just as the status of the upstate economy emerged as an issue in the Senate race between Mrs. Clinton and Rep. Rick Lazio. It's also worth noting that The New York Times, which broke the story about the allegedly false data, has yet to report that the charge was found to be utterly baseless.
