Douglas rodriguez could probably fire up one of his ovens on his own power. The chef, who went solo just over a year ago, spends his evenings dashing between Chicama and Pipa, his two white-hot restaurants in the huge downtown home furnishings mecca ABC Carpet & Home. When he's not at his stove, he's cooking up plans for a third eatery at ABC and getting ready to open a restaurant in Philadelphia.

He envisions having at least three more Latin-inspired eateries in Manhattan. Meanwhile, he writes cookbooks and cooks on TV.
