The ``queen of the web'' for venture capital in Latin America, Susan Segal, has given up her throne. Known for pioneering investments in Internet start-ups, including Manhattan-based StarMedia Network Inc. and Buenos Aires-based MercadoLibre S.A., the former head of Chase Capital Partners' Latin America group turned over the reins at the beginning of the year.
Three months after Chase Manhattan Corp.'s acquisition of J.P Morgan & Co. last September, Ms. Segal decided to cede her reign to her Latin American counterpart at J. P. Morgan Capital, Tim Purcell. He is now a partner and group head of J.P.
