Digital New York: Playboy Web site offers online ticket to the races; Company hopes to spur horse-track betting; city hasn't lost on dot-coms.(Brief Article)

Is horse racing sexy? the people who run Playboy's Web site are betting on it. The Manhattan-based company, whose logo design portrays another type of speedy four-legged creature, recently introduced online horse-track betting at its PlayboyRacingUSA.com Web site. Visitors to the site can bet on any number of live horse races from a host of different tracks-including Belmont and Yonkers Raceway.

Leslie Andrews, vice president of marketing for Playboy's Internet gaming division, says visitors to the site will be able to bet on races at as many as 30 different tracks on any given day, depending on where races are held and whether it's legal in the bettor's state.
