Appetite to Reopen The owners of Applebee's and Chevys Fresh Mex in Battery Park have decided to open their doors again. ``We wanted to reopen when we felt it was appropriate,'' says Melani Tankel, marketing manager for Apple Metro Inc., a Harrison, N.Y.-based company that operates both restaurants.
The two spots, at 102 North End Ave., have been shuttered since Sept. 11. They are in a complex that opened two years ago and that includes an Embassy Suites Hotel and a multiplex cinema. The eateries sustained no damage, and all 200 employees were deployed to other Apple Metro outlets. Many will be back. Applebee's opens tomorrow. Chevys is slated to open Aug. 6.
