No need for city to go gaga in pursuit of Olympics.(Viewpoint)

Byline: James Brady Has New York totally wigged out? As a columnist, I should be as deliriously gaga as everyone else over this idiotic pursuit of the 2012 Olympics. Think of all that grist for the weekly mill: the scandals, the politics, the horse-trading, the bribes, the emotional ups and downs between now and 2005 (when the blimpish international committee makes its choice).

For column-writing material alone, I should be in Mr. Doctoroff's debt. And instead? Here I am, a minority voice, a stubborn, perhaps stupid opponent of change, butting his head against granite walls, whining about gridlock. The mayor thinks the Olympics are a great idea.
