Byline: edited by Emily DeNitto Rising star in men's club Fairchild Publications' Details is stealing market share from Conde Nast's GQ, adding to the sibling rivalry between the two Advance Publications firms. Trendy Details' share of fashion and retail ads rose to 18% of the market in 2002, from just 4% in 2000.
GQ still claims a 27% share of the luxury ad pages, but that's down from 36% in 2000. "GQ still gets its fair share of the business,'' says Details Publisher Bill Wackerman. "But maybe not as fair as before.'' Through April 2003, Details' total ad pages jumped 35% to 299, making it third among all men's magazines, behind GQ (up 3% to 443 pages) and Maxim (flat at 335 pages), according to Media Industry News.
