Byline: catherine curan When brian woolf took the helm of women's apparel retailer Cache Inc. in the fall of 2000, losses were widening and its stock languished at about $2.75. Since then, he and President Tom Reinckens have stitched up a rare Seventh Avenue success story. Last year was the best ever for the 28-year-old company.
Profits more than doubled, hitting $8.9 million, or 93 cents a share, as sales rose 11% to $199.4 million. Driven by a strong second quarter and a road show promoting a secondary stock offering, Cache shares have soared 74% since the beginning of June.
